Sawtooth International Ski Races
25th Annual

THE RACES

The Sawtooth Races will be run in a traditional format for the 25th year. We will have a 10K classical technique event, followed by a 20K freestyle event.  Both will be run on a 10K loop utilizing intermediate level Pincushion Mountain trails.

There will be a self-seeded mass start at 10:00 am for all 10K classical racers and another mass start at 11:00 am for the 20K freestyle racers. Separate awards will be given for the 10K classical and for the 20K freestyle events.  Junior skiers are encouraged to enter the 10K event.

 REGISTRATION & CHECK-IN

Advance registration is appreciated and encouraged.  You may register by mail using this entry form or online here.  If you are concerned about timely mail delivery, use the online registration.  However, skiers may register and pick up race packets on the day of the race.  Registration and/or packet pick up will be from 6 pm - 8 pm Saturday night at the Cook County Community Center (note the location—directions under Pasta Feed info).  Late comers can pick up packets or register on Sunday morning 8 am - 9 am at the Pincushion warming chalet (race start area).  The lighted trail will be open on Saturday night until 10 pm! However, the remainder of the course will close for race prep at 5 pm on Saturday.

 PASTA FEED & AWARDS

The Cook County Youth Ski League will sponsor a pasta feed on Saturday night from 6 pm to 8 pm in the Cook County Community Center to help skiers and spectators replenish energy stores for the Sunday races. The Community Center is just 1/2 block west of the high school. Look for the hockey rink!

Awards will be presented at the Pincushion warming building immediately following each race.

 LODGING & MEALS

Along with over 165 kilometers of Pisten Bully groomed x-c ski trails within 30 minutes of Grand Marais, our area offers cross country skiers many fine motels, lodges, bed & breakfasts, and restaurants that cater to skiers.  We suggest reserving accommodations early.  For lodging assistance, call the Grand Marais Visitors Center toll free at 888-922-5000 or log on to www.grandmarais.com.  This event is supported in part by funds from the Grand Marais Area Tourism Association.

Additional information, snow conditions, last minute race information, printable entry forms and online registration available at www.pincushiontrails.org.
